What type wine to serve for Thanksgiving?
This will be a traditional Thanksgiving meal - turkey, dressing, etc. Red, white, blush? A couple of each to please everyone? We really aren't planning for guests but people tend to drift in. I'm no wine connoisseur by any means but I don't want to serve something that clashes with the food.
It's best to have both a red and a white wine to suit everyone's taste. A traditional Thanksgiving meal has such a rich variety of foods and flavors that it is difficult to select a wine that will pair well. I'd probably select a Pinot Noir for the red wine and a Gewurtraminer for the white wine.
Pinot Noir is a red wine that is extremely versatile. It's very fruit forward with a lush velvety texture.
Gewurtraminer is a zesty white wine that goes well with a variety of dishes. Gewurztraminer has a spicy aroma and fruity flavors of peach, apricot, tropical fruits, and lychee.
You could also start the feast with a glass of Sparkling wine as well.
