Your New Wine Cellar
Have you ever thought about a wine cellar for your home? Don't just think about what a wine cellar costs. But think about what it can do for you. A wine cellar is something that would be a great feature in your home. A place that you can have your wines for drinking now and a place to store all your wines for future drinking. Wines can be collected like rare books. So you need to store them in a safe enviroment. Which means temperature (55-58 degrees) and (60-70%) humidity controlled. Remember you wine is also sensitive to light and sensitive to vibration.
So if you are thinking about building a wine cellar....The first thing to think about is your space. So your thinking 500 bottles..hmmm. That's a lot of wine! Not really...Because like I said, think down the road, not for just now. Most people that I do consultations with thank me for doubling and tripling the space that they thought be be enough. You go on a trip into your favorite wine country, and all of a sudden you have four or five cases of wine that you are bringing back with you. Not to mention the few cases that are now being sent to you every month. This adds up really fast. The other thing that nobody ever thinks about is your friends. Not the ones that come over to just drink your wine. The ones that go off to wineries around the country and think enough of you to bring back some great wines for you. Simply because you have a wine cellar. Your friends now think that you also are an oenophile.
