Afew of the sporting activities to get upto in Wales
Considering where to go on your next holiday? Consider a short break in Wales, espeically if you enjoy your sports -heres a list of actvities to do while your down here.
- Caving. Wales has some of the best underground passageways and tunnels in the UK, available for you to explore. Caving is done all year round, other than when the heavy rain makes some of them inaccessible. You'll be taken underground in small groups with a guide to see the subterranean caves that few people will ever get the chance to see. A full days caving costs £55, with the pirce of a half day for £35. Can be done in snowdonia, Gower Peninsula and the Brecon Beacons.
- Coasteering -This is a mix of scrambling, climbing, traversing cliff jumping and swimming that actually orignated in Wales during the 80s and 90s. Summer is where its at its most popular, but the later on in the season theres a chance of abit of swell to make the experience more interesting. You'll be in a group of about 2-8 people and led by a guide on a route chosen on based on the experience and abilities of the group. Coasteering can be done on the Pembrokeshire coast, the Gower Peninsula and the North Wales coast.
- Surfing- With some great places and waves to go surfing on, Wales should be a place all surfers need to come visit for the waves. Lessons are available for beginners if you've never jumped onto a surf board before. Some of the surf schools run 'women only weekends' to, and group tuition or one to one lessons are available. From between £20 for a half day and £40 for a full day of surfing. The sea is at its warmest during late summer and early autumn, and most of the surf schools are open from Easter to October, but that doesnt really stop the more experienced surfers going at any time they want to ride the waves. Available in South Wales, the Gower Penninsula, Pembrokeshire, the Lleyn Peninsula and Anglesey.
- Diving -One of the best places in the UK for diving, Wales has a variety of diving sites from offshore islands, wrecks and Marine nature reserves. The basic course is around £55 and a 2 day course with open water dives start from £200. The best times to do this would be late summer, early autumn, when the water is at its warmest. Diving is available in Anglesey, the Llyn Peninsula, Pembrokeshire and (again,) the Gower Peninsula.
