Alto sax crook problem?
I bought an Alto sax about three weeks ago, teaching myself from a complete beginner, so its nothing fancy, just a typical student grade sax. problem is, I've noticed that after a while the condensation from inside the crook starts to leak out from the cork, not round the mouth piece, but between the crook and the cork, is this a major problem? its under warranty with the shop so if it is a serious problem i can just take it back, but if its something that won't matter on an instrument of that quality then I may just leave it for now. I've been looking after it using cork grease, but I can see a small gap between the cork and the metal of the crook,
I think what you are calling the "crook" is the neck of the saxophone- the piece that connects the body to the mouthpiece. If there is a gap and water is leaking out, there is a serious problem and I don't know how you could make a sound! Take it back!
