Glass painting is a fun and memorable thing to do. It can help you enhance and explore your artistic skills. Just like any other painting, glass painting uses oil-based or water-based paints depending on the artist's desire. It is a fantastic work of art done in a piece of glass rather than on a piece of paper or canvass. Here are some tips for you in doing a glass painting that you will surely be proud to showcase to everybody.
- Acknowledge what is your aim in glass painting. Is it just for a decoration to satisfy oneself or a gift to be given to others? You need to use the appropriate materials for this project. Make sure the piece meets the required needs.
- The dash is where you paint. Obviously it is a dash made of glass. But how do we choose a perfect glass for painting? The glass should be clear, smooth and plain. Printed or designed glasses are not appropriate to use since it will destroy how your art appears. It is also recommended to wear latex gloves while glass painting. Since your hand will obviously get oiled due to paint, there is a tendency that the dash will slip off your hands and be broken. But before anything else, be sure to wipe clean your glass before starting to paint.
- You should know the quality of the paint you have. If you want a quality long-lasting glass paint, choose a high-quality paint as well. Obviously, high-quality paint is more expensive. But you are paying for quality, right? You want a fantastic glass paint. So just sacrifice that money for that priceless achievement. Remember, you get what you pay for!
- The color of a particular may change when painted on a glass. So before using a particular paint, you have to be knowledgeable about what its output color could be. You do not want to waste another time regretting and erase it. Besides, it might ruin the smoothness and clarity of the glass. When you are about to purchase a paint, you may first ask for color sample charts painted on a piece of glass just so to help you decide what color to really buy.
- Your piece should be permanent, durable and adhesive. You can tell the quality of a particular painting if it can withstand frequent dishwashing, baking. If you bake your paint in the oven, there is a strong possibility that the paint will remain since it will stick o much on the glass already.
