Four Fun Craft Projects For Recycled Plastic Soda Bottles
In order to reuse plastic soda bottles, you can consider using them to craft a feeder for birds, a miniature ocean life display, a goblet for candies or an Easter basket.
If you’re among the many people eager in finding uses for old and apparently unusable stuff, you may be interested in these craft ideas for soda bottles made of plastic in a variety of sizes. From small, handy objects such as wallet inserts to distinctive interior decor, there are lots of things you can do to reuse plastic soda bottles. The following are fun recycling projects you can consider:
A feeder for birds
Nature enthusiasts will like this recycling activity involving soda bottles. Gather together a clear 1-liter soda bottle, a crafting knife, spoons made of wood, an eye screw, a piece of string and some bird seed. The first step would be to rinse the transparent 1000 ml size bottle and use the craft knife to carefully cut out diagonal openings on opposite sides. The holes need to measure half an inch. Insert wooden spoons into the openings; the wooden spoons will serve as perches for the birds. Put birdseed into your bottle and stick in the eye screw into the bottle cap so that you could slip in a piece of cord for hanging the bird feeder.
An ocean life bottle display
An ocean life display will delight children and let them know the importance of both ocean life as well as recycling. You need to find a 2000 ml plastic bottle, water, vegetable oil, blue food coloring, silver glitters,artificial aquarium decorations, seashells and some glue. Take off the tag from the bottle and pour water in it and make sure it is only filled halfway. Fill the remaining part with vegetable oil. Pour a bit of the blue food coloring to mimic the ocean and then sprinkle in a few of the glitter. Now put in plastic aquarium decorations such as artificial plants, fish-shaped toys and shells. Ensure the bottle cap is screwed properly by gluing it.
A goblet-shaped candy container
Youngsters who like magic-themed things will find a candy goblet recycled from a plastic bottle both handy and amusing. You will need a plastic bottle, a cutter, craft glue and several adornments. Cut off the bottom of the plastic bottle. Next, put the craft glue on the top hole of the bottle and fasten it into the center of the base to create a goblet form. You could put on adornments like plastic jewels on the surface to make the holder look more fascinating. Fill in the container with sweets such as gumdrops and gumballs.
An Easter basket
This colorful craft idea is perfect for Easter. Get the following things: a clean, 2-liter plastic bottle, adhesive tape, a puncher, a pipe cleaner, adhesive and some Easter-themed accessories. The first thing you need to do is to cut away 4 inches from the plastic bottle to create the the base. Put adhesive tape on the cut edge so that it will be smooth. Punch holes on two opposite sides of the basket using the hole punch. Put a long pipe cleaner through the holes to make the handle. You may then attach on various embellishments that represent Easter like stickers or recycled colorful paper cut into rabbit shapes or eggs. Lastly, load the basket with synthetic grass or decorated Easter eggs.
In addition to being practical, these craft projects can be great for teaching children the importance of recycling.
