How do you purse train a dog(chihuahua)?
I want to carry my chihuahua Molly in my new dog carrier but every time I try to put her in the purse she jumps out!!(oh and to the people who dont think dogs should be in purses i dont care wut u think) PLEASE HELP ME??!
Hello. Purse training a dog is alot like crate training a dog. The key is to make them want to be in there. I will admit, that it's much easier to purse train puppies, but you train do an adult dog.
Here are my suggestions
1) Make sure that you have a purse that is large enough for your dog
2) Set the purse on the ground and place your pup in the purse and give her a favorite treat or toy. Tell her "stay" then after a few seconds lift her out. The key is to never let her jump out of the bag - make her stay only a few seconds then lift her out (all of this on the floor)
3) Gradually increase the time in the bag (continue giving treats)
4) Once she is staying in the bag for 5 minutes or so (after about a week of work) start to lift the bag.
5) Continue with step 3 while lifting the bag
6) Enjoy your purse trained dog 
One thing I would suggest is purchasing a bag that fully closes. This will make it much easier to train her since she cannot "escape." Once she is purse trained you can get a more stylish bag with an opening.
Another note is always always always keep a leash on the dog while they are in the bag.
