Is it true that an African American will not be served in an Irish bar?
A friend of mine, who is an African American, told me that a black person will not be served in an Irish American bar because of the lingering bitterness from the time when non-Irish whites viewed Irish lives as less valuable than the lives of African American slaves. The example given was that in the bayou Irish immigrants had to do the hardest and most dangerous work because a slave was property and therefore, had monetary value.
I've never heard of this and can't find anything on the web.
I live in St. Louis and my black friend wanted to take me and my sister to an irish bar and we actually had fun they started dancing and since I am part irish me and my sister knew one dance and everybody though it was funny that we knew irish dances.
